BFA
Pays $30,000
In Year-End Bonuses!
Barrel Futurities of America developed a new program
during the 2002 season through which its top point earning members
would be eligible to receive bonus money at the conclusion of
the season. According to B.F.A. director and spokesperson Charles
Brock, the concept was developed at the suggestion of members
Bo Hill and Jim Warner. Brock said the B.F.A.'s board of directors
opted to hold off on issuance of the bonus checks until after
its final event of the season, the World Championship Futurity,
so they would know exactly how much they could afford to spend
on the new program.
"Our members suggested they would rather
receive cash than commerative awards for their achievements,"
stated Brock. "We listened. The checks were issued to the
current owners of the top point earning horses from the 2002
season. $21,500 was paid out to the futurity horses and $11,500
was paid out to the derby horses.
"This is our way of saying Thank You to those
who supported the BFA throughout the year," continued Brock.
"Lance Graves is a perfect example of the members who deserve
these bonus checks. Lance attended every B.F.A. approved event
this year and one of his horses ended up the #2 High Point horse
of the season."
